This Week in Foul Balls (May 6-12): All Sorts of Fun in Pennsylvania and Other Tidbits.

The 2018 MLB baseball season rolls on, and with it the foul ball fun keeps on going and going. Welcome back to this week’s version of “TWIFB Notes” (‘This Week in Foul Balls’). In this weekly post, I look at the best and worst foul ball moments in Major League Baseball…and sometimes Minor League Baseball…and sometimes softball and high school baseball.

First, my running total of foul ball hits in the facial area, or what I call “Foul Ball Facials”, as they are reported ONLY on Twitter. This is the count thus far for the 2018 season (again, based ONLY on tweets):

#MLB #FoulBallFacials via Twitter 2018 RUNNING TOTALS:

82 smiling, happy kids who are now lifelong baseball fans.

THIS ONE WAS LAUNCHED! Did you miss Los Angeles Angels OF Jabari Blash smashing a foul ball OUT of Safeco Field? Check it out. WOW.

This was a tough one. I was torn where to put this, but I think the kid tossing ball back on field after the Giants fan gifted it to him puts it to not-so-good…but funny…so I put it in “Very Good”. There’s really no rhyme nor reason to my decision. I put it here, but you can decide where  “Good guy Giants fan gives a youngster a foul ball…and he throws it back on to the field” belongs.

This. Poor Molina! Cards’ Molina hit in the groin by foul ball. The hit was so powerful and just happened to hit him in the wrong way, that he’s out 1 month after surgery. Every man feels your pain, Yadi.

This was another tough call. I decided to put it here. Check out this interesting incident: One of CTStyle’s hosts’ former coaches, Coach Gary Pember, was at a Yard Goats game to catch a foul ball that Tim Tebow hit. Instead of snagging one, he instead got by a line drive to his forehead:

Meh. It’s been done many times, but it’s still neat to see the beer catch: “This Pittsburgh Pirates fan needed only a cup of beer to reel in a foul ball”.
